A 46-year veteran of broadcasting, Mr. Gentry’s lengthy career has forged a solid foundation of industry knowledge and experience.
His early entry into broadcasting began in 1968, with Arm Force Radio and Television, during the Vietnam War. As he says “That’s when I fell in love with Broadcasting”. “I was hooked the minute I opened the microphone”.
In 1971, Mr. Gentry entered commercial broadcasting as on-air talent for KTKT AM in Tucson, Arizona and later he and his wife Andrea Gail, moved with their three children to KOOL FM in Phoenix Arizona.
In 1972, Scott Gentry was hired by Lotus broadcasting Corp. as morning on-air talent for KENO radio, in Las Vegas Nevada. During his time with Lotus Broadcasting, he became the number one morning personality in Las Vegas and developed a keen sense of radio programming. After five years he was promoted to Corporate Program Director for Lotus’s then 11 stations. Within a short period of time Scott managed to turn 8 of the 11 stations they owned, into top rated performers.
A desire for additional challenges, Scott directed his interest toward poor performing radio properties such as, KISN FM, KLUB AM, KTKK AM, in Salt Lake City, as well as a few years with KDOT AM and KHYK FM in Provo Utah. As a result of his expertise, each property grew exponentially, yielding an excellent return to each of the properties’ corporations.
In 1988 Mr. Gentry was persuaded to return to Las Vegas and join OIZ Advertising, to launch a new neighborhood casino concept, called Arizona Charles. During his time at OIZ, he developed strengths in product branding and marketing, and worked with a multitude of local businesses, casinos, county Commissioners and Gubernatorial candidates. As expected many of those clients and candidates, went on to successful businesses or political office.
In 1990, Scott purchased KREL AM radio in Las Vegas, Nevada, along with a Hispanic shareholder group, he helped to organize. It was the first Spanish language radio station in Las Vegas and Scott saw the potential of the flourishing Spanish population in Southern Nevada. Then in 1993, Scott Gentry put together a partnership group, to purchase KBLR Television, channel 39, in Las Vegas. This failing television station became a success under the experience and direction of Mr. Gentry, as he built and developed, the first full-power Spanish language television station in Las Vegas, Telemundo, which he sold to NBC, the network owner, in 2005.
This pattern continues today as he and his brother Kurt have brought KJUL FM back to the airwaves at 104.7 FM, along with converting KREL into KOOL 102.3 FM and 1280 AM, after he purchased it from it's original remaining partners.
Today Scott enjoys days filled with managing Summit Media Radio and hosting the morning show on KJUL-FM, as well as spending as much time as possible with his wife of 43 years, Andrea-Gail, their four children and of course, their six grandchildren. Anyone who knows Scott, knows he loves what he does and wouldn’t have it any other way.
I wanted to be a radio broadcaster my entire life, listening to radio stations constantly as a kid and then studying Radio and TV for a career at Michigan State University. As all radio people have, I've worked at lots of stations in all parts of the country but have found Las Vegas to be my favorite place of all! My wife and I have been here for 18 years now and we've both seen tons of changes that have taken place in Las Vegas broadcasting. KJUL is one of the most interesting stations I've worked at because of the passion of the audience. They love the station and they love the music and that makes it fun to come to work every day!
Melanie is from Pasadena, California, where as a young girl she received her " official training" for her future career by working at her dad's diner, meeting people from all walks of life. She started her radio on-air career in Bishop, California and from there went to Mammoth
Mountain, then Sacramento and finally to Las Vegas. Being on-air has allowed her to work and volunteer with many great organizations. She has been the honorary Chair of The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure, established "Melanie's Closet" with Opportunity Village providing gently used clothes for women re-entering the workplace, as well as working with the American Cancer Society, Boys Hope Girls Hope, the NSPCA, and the Clark County Reading a Program.
Melanie is honored to help others, and enjoys hosting Charity Gala's, being the voice of The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino, doing on-air and TV Advertising and even performed as a guest celebrity in the Broadway Acclaimed Play "The Vagina Monologues" Her list of celebrity interviews is endless,ranging from Bette Midler to Jon Bon Jovi, from Celine Dion to Jerry Seinfeld. However, one of her favorites was taking her audience to Chicago to interview Oprah! She has received the Review Journal's Best of Las Vegas award for best Radio Personality several times, was the first radio personality to be a recipient of "Women in Performing Arts, Entertainment and Media" and was the first local Radio Personality to be awarded a Key To The City by Mayor Oscar Goodman. When Melanie is not waking up Las Vegas, she spends time with family and friends in Southern California, and Seattle.
In an impressive and eclectic career that spans more than 25 years, John Tesh is known worldwide as a leading and respected figure in the entertainment and broadcasting industries. In 1996, after 10 years as co-host of "Entertainment Tonight," he surprised many by leaving the highly visible position to pursue his career as a fulltime musician. For generations music and radio have gone hand in hand and, Tesh has conquered yet another media format as one of the most successful syndicated radio show hosts in the country with "The John Tesh Radio Show: Music and Intelligence for Your Life."
"I like to call it 'purpose-driven radio'," says Tesh of his award-winning daily and weekly show that is heard on over 355 stations nationwide by more than 14.5 million listeners. Tesh created the show for his wife, actress Connie Sellecca, because "her nightstand was covered with the last 20 months of the Oprah magazine." The show is owned and distributed by The TeshMedia Group and airs in all dayparts, on multiple formats.
"We wanted to create a show for that person, the person who doesn't have time to find all that stuff, but is interested in being better in everything that he or she does," explains Tesh. The show is full of genuine advice and tips - nothing pretentious or haughty - with a mix of humor and earnestness. "We appeal to people who want to make a change in their life, whether it's to be a better parent or a better pet owner."
Some of these tips: Always wear blue to important meetings as it is a subversively powerful color; throw dishwashing sponges (a haven for germ breeding) into the dishwasher or microwave oven for sanitizing every other day; and, the amount of time one should spend brushing his own teeth is the same duration of the song "Yellow Submarine."
The latter is a clear example of how Tesh and his sense of humor about life in general can drive home the points of what is really important in our lives. And, numerous accolades from radio colleagues and listeners confirm that Tesh's popularity. Recently, "The John Tesh Radio Show" was named the "2006 Radio Ink Reader's Choice Award" winner in not one, but two categories: "Best Daily Music Program" and "Best Weekly Music Program."

The message of his radio show follows Tesh to his live performances. "The radio show leaks into the stage show," admits Tesh. Both in the talking he does on stage and in the "Intelligent Life Game Show." If you follow his career, it becomes obvious that music has always been Tesh's main passion.
Three of Tesh's releases, A Deeper Faith,Christmas Worship and Power of Love all resided on the Billboard Pop and Christian Music charts and, Power of Love was nominated for a 2003 Grammy for "Best Pop Instrumental Album." With the release of A Deeper Faith 2 and his book "The Power of Prayer and Worship," Tesh stepped further into a world in which he desires only to be 'useful' to others. His acclaimed, family-friendly CD and DVD, Red Rocks Platinum, was also a hit national television special. And, Tesh's first live Red Rocks concert from 1993 was a best selling and RIAA Gold-certified CD.
"Fourteen years ago, in a driving rain storm, with my wife and two-month-old daughter in the audience, my life changed forever at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre," comments Tesh. "The Public Television program we filmed that evening went on to become one of PBS's most successful fundraising specials ever. It also enabled me to make a giant leap out of television and into the world of music, my first love."
Now, more than a decade later, Tesh has once again created an amazing project in God's natural amphitheatre in Worship at Red Rocks. This worldwide television event featured favorite praise and worship songs such as "You Are Good," "I Can Only Imagine," "Lord Have Mercy" and "Above All," plus many new pieces created especially for the occasion.
Tesh has long been an advocate for the power and encouragement found in worship music. And so it's no surprise that one of Tesh's regular gigs is music director in his Sherman Oaks, CA, church.
Despite his various professional hats, Tesh considers being a father and husband his "greatest accomplishment." "When you have a teenager in your house, you suddenly realize that you need to pick a vocation that the kid can actually share with the rest of her class," says Tesh.
As a television host, recording artist, music director and syndicated radio show host - John Tesh has explored and succeeded in all of these facets of the entertainment industry. With three gold albums and a career that includes six Emmys, two Grammy nominations, an Associated Press Award for investigative journalism, a Keyboard Magazine Award, several number one radio hits, five hit PBS specials and two tours as an Olympic announcer/composer, it's obvious that Tesh has a drive for versatility.
2010 shows no signs of Tesh slowing down. With more stations picking up his radio show almost weekly, the Renaissance man continues to tour more than 75 cities each year and releases music and video projects. In addition, his hardcover book, Intelligence for Your Life: Powerful Lessons for Personal Growth (Thomas Nelson, Inc.) has spent time on the New York Times, USA Today,Publisher's Weekly, Amazon.com and Wall Street Journal best-seller lists. Tesh lives in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Connie Sellecca, and his daughter Prima. His son, Gib, is also a key member of the TeshMedia Group team and is featured in Tesh's live concerts.
